Dear friends

Av Mike Sanchez

Ladies and gentlemen, friends and fans, the brand new album 'Women & Cadillacs' is finally out and ready to be added to your CD collection!

The new album celebrates the launch of my label and on-line store Doopin Music at: www.doopin.com

This album is my first collaboration with top Swedish band Knock-Out Greg & Blue Weather. The release of 'Women & Cadillacs' (DOOPIN 01) features 16 new recordings, including a bonus 20 minutes of 'hidden' too-good-to-waste leftovers.

Mike Sanchez opptrer på Ørland Bluesklubb i 2002.
Recorded at Real Music Studio, Bromma, Stockholm, where Greg and the guys regularly record their own music, we pulled out originals and cover ideas from my list of all time rockin' favourites by Wynonie Harris, Roy Brown, Young Jesse, Big T. Tyler, Gatemouth Brown, Billy Emerson and T. Bone Walker. We also recorded a wonderful Percy Mayfield track 'The Voice Within'. Needless to say we're more than proud with the results. It's a great follow-up to my own band's album from 2001 'Blue Boy', and it's one of the most authentic-sounding records I've ever been involved in.

I'm hoping to make this the start of an ongoing series of quality recordings for rhythm & blues fans everywhere. The album's UK release features a six-page digi-pack format, lavishly designed by the reputable Chris Wroe at Wacksworks, while also being available in a regular plastic packaging from the Swedish blues label Last Buzz Records.

My schedule this year doesn't leave much time to promote the new album with Greg and the guys as I'm busy being a Rhythm King throughout large sections of the year. We've just completed a hugely successful tour of France and Spain that started in June in Roubaix, France and ended in Monaco at the start of August. We begin the UK stretch in November and also have plenty of shows coming up in 2004 including plans for longer trips around Europe next summer.

This November 12th will include a special Rhythm Kings show at the Royal Albert Hall, London, involving some big name guests sharing the stage with the band.

Bill Wyman also has a new Ripple Records 'Bootleg Kings' release out now titled 'On the Road Again' recorded during last year's tour that features me singing on 5 tracks. You can order this album from www.billwyman.com or buy it at one of this year's Rhythm Kings shows.

Other news: Guitarist Rick Vito (ex. Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger band) has released a new album 'Band Box Boogie' featuring a fabulous version of the Mike Sanchez/Andy Silvester composition 'Hungry Man' from our 1989 Blue Horizon album 'Now Appearing'. Rick became a friend and fan while he was touring as a member of Fleetwood Mac back in the late 80s.

Lastly, I'm very proud to announce the addition of Dublin-born beauty Imelda as a full-time vocalist with my 8-piece band. Already a star of my R&B Revue alongside The Extraordinaires, Imelda is adding her golden voice to the debut Revue album for Doopin Music to be released next year.

I haven't included my tour dates in this newsletter as they are still coming in but please check my Doopin site and Bill Wyman's site for the 2003 and 2004 tour dates.

Londoners please note that my next date in town is a one-off four-piece rock'n'roll set featuring Andy Silvester (Guitar), Al Gare (Bull Fiddle) and Mark Morgan (Drums) at: The 100 Club, Oxford Street, London, on Saturday 18th October.
